::: OUR MOTTO: NO BENEFITS & NO ENEMIES! :::
We won't ask bands to play for free so we can get them compensated fairly...
We are proud to announce our fiscal sponsorship by The Austin Community Foundation. Your donation is tax dedctible.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
10% of gross donations goes to Austin Music Charity Organizations; 85% goes to fund our Public Service Announcement campaign; 5% goes to operationall expenses.
MORE INFORMATION:
The funds Save Austin Music raises are not to create an ongoing organizational treasury. They are to be used to immediately generate income for Austin’s Music Industry so that it can become self-supporting (and we can discontinue fundraising as soon as possible).
We do not have permanent operational offices, nor salaried positions within our organization, nor will we create such positions without the approval of our members. To date, all our expenses have been met by the organization’s founder, Troy Dillinger, who will be reimbursed at such time as donations allow.
Is My Donation Tax-deductable?
Currently, only the 10% that goes to our Charity Partners is deductible, although we are currently applying to the Austin Community Foundation for non-profit umbrella status that would allow your donation to be fully deductible.
Why donate to Save Austin Music?
For two reasons:
- To carry out our Public Service Announcement campaign in Step 3 of our 5-Step Plan; Our Public Service Announcement campaign will place our message to “See One Austin Band Each Month” and to visit the SaveAustinMusic.com website (for more information about the problem and solution) for 1-2 million impressions (exposures) each month.
Why pay for PSA placement? While PSA space is donated by almost every television, radio, and print media outlet, we will also need to buy some placement to increase the effectiveness of our campaign. Simply put, we won’t get the best placement in media (and definitely not over a long period of time for free), so we’re going to have to buy some ad time to continue our PSA’s placement in desirable slots. This isn’t cheap, but we believe that as the PSA starts sending audiences into venues and everybody’s making money, then donations to this end will be even more justified.
- To pay the expenses incurred in operating our organization: Our organization has fewer operating expenses than other organizations. We are as loosely organized as possible to make our expenses low and our effectiveness high. Our expenses are simple and minimal; printing & flyering, web hosting, meeting expenses, and other small fees associated with keeping the organization in existence. We are not incorporated and we do not currently have non-profit status because of the fees and resources required to file the legal documents. We want to spend all our time, attention, and meager resources on solving the immediate issues that threaten to silence our local music industry.
