::: What Is Save Austin Music? :::

     Save Austin Music is a grassroots trade organization comprised of those working in Austin's music industry and support industries. As a community, we develop and support best trade practices and act with government to increase the financial and cultural impact of Austin's music on Austin and abroad. Our goals are:

• to mobilize Austinites to see one Austin band each month;
• to revive and restructure Austin’s music industry and create fair working wages for all employed within it;
• to create a working relationship with our City and State government that allows for the growth of our industry and support of policies and laws that help our local businesses flourish;
• and to be actively participants in our community and its various organizations.

     Save Austin Music is not a 501c3 charity. This is because:

a) 501c3 status would keep us from being politically active to achieve some of our goals; and

b) the process of applying for non-profit status is expensive and time-consuming, and we want to address emergency issues that are facing our community immediately.

     We will apply for 501c6 status when we have accomplished our goals in Step 3 of our plan and no longer need emergency funds to monetize the local music industry.

     Save Austin Music is not a labor union and is not organizing as such. At best, its related future activity will be directed towards potentially creating a trade organization which encourages and rewards best practices, but with no interest in enforcing them.

Organizational Structure:
      SAM Organizational structure is based on voluntary participation on one or more “committees” which meet once monthly or as called by their members:

Musician’s committee; Venue Owner/Employee committee; Music Related Business committee; Media committee; Fan committee

     The organization also has a Creative Committee which deals with aspects pertaining to its marketing and public relations activities. Those volunteers are:
